We are pleased to present ‘On Cloud 9’, a beautiful documentary by videographer & Push Philippines co-founder Emilio Molave about the skatepark of the same name on the island of Siargao, Philippines.
Initially instigated by Sky Brown who saw the need for a public skatepark on the island after visiting to surf there, and subsequently supported by Nike SB, On Cloud 9 Skatepark was Make Life Skate Life’s 15th project & was completed in 2024.
As well as featuring skateboarding from local kids & visitors at the new park and around the island, the film includes interviews with: community worker Sophia De Leon, Push Philippines co-founder Daryl Dominguez, Make Life Skate Life director Shane Carrick & founder Arne Hillerns, skate coach Michael Adrian Kaimito Pasok, volunteer builder Jean-Marc Soulie, local skater Doyah Maria E. Convicto & last but definitely not not least, Sheryl C. Camingue, Florephine P. Camingue & Gretchen M. Trajano, who supported the build with water and power from their nearby home and volunteered to run the loaner programme.
The film gives a great insight into the important work of Make Life Skate Life, the challenges presented by this particular project, the selfless willingness of locals to support the park and its programmes, the hopes and dreams of local skaters, the surf-influenced style of skating on Siargao & the work of Push Philippines, plus much more.

Tunisia 2024
In a remarkable effort, MLSL completed the construction of two skateparks in Tunisia within a span of three months. Tunisia stood out as one of the nations within the Maghreb region lacking skateboarding infrastructure. Following the completion of the parks, MLSL trained and employed local skate coaches, including female instructors. These coaches now organize weekly loaner board sessions and skate classes, making skateboarding accessible to those who otherwise would not have access to it. Through these initiatives, MLSL not only provided recreational spaces but also established a sustainable platform for empowerment and growth in Tunisia.

Canada 2022
Inukjuak Skatepark is located in the small and isolated town of Inukjuak in the Nunavik region of Northern Canada. The community struggles with the enduring impact of colonization, facing its lingering scars and challenges. The skatepark introduced skateboarding to Inuit youth, providing them with a much-needed outlet for recreation and physical activity. To the Inuit community, the skatepark symbolizes resilience and empowerment, fostering a sense of community pride and unity. Also, it’s probably the only skatepark with the chance of getting attacked by a polar bear.

India 2013
India marked the inaugural project for Make Life Skate Life (MLSL), setting the stage for the organization’s mission to construct skateparks in marginalized communities worldwide. MLSL became friends with the Indian skateboard collective, Holystoked, who together embarked on a project to build a skatepark. Through the project, members of Holystoked gained invaluable insights into skatepark construction, inspiring the establishment of their own skatepark construction company. The construction of this 1st skatepark led to the creation of 25 skateparks across India, nurturing a thriving skateboarding culture in the country.
